St. Louis Weekend

For Christmas, Denton got me tickets to the Avett Brothers concert at the Peabody Opera House in St. Louis. The concert was this past weekend, so we both took a day off from work and spent the weekend in St. Louis!

Day 1: We left Friday morning about 10 AM. I somehow convinced my boyfriend who doesn't like to shop to make our first destination the Chesterfield Mall. We ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (but didn't get any cheesecake -- still bummed about that one) and did a little shopping. Denton even got a couple shirts. From there, we found our hotel and a Target so I could buy a bigger memory card. At this point, we were running close on time for dinner and to make it to the concert. We took a cab to the Schlafly Tap Room where we had amazing food. From there, we made it down to the concert with a few minutes to spare. The concert was AMAZING. The set was simple, venue amazing, and the sound was incredible. If you're not a fan of this band, I suggest you look them up ASAP!

Day 2: We decided to start our Saturday with an early lunch. After struggling and failing to find the Hard Rock Cafe (silly GPS) we found a small Irish pub called Molly's. The food was good and plentiful and it was a good last minute pick. From there, we ventured further downtown to tour the Gateway Arch. I hadn't been up the Arch since I was little, and Denton had never been. It was funny to watch him squeeze his 6'5" frame into the tiny pod to the top! The top was really fun and the day was gorgeous! After the Arch, we attempted to find an ice cream shop. Once again, after a fail an accidental tour of the city, we decided to head to the St. Louis Science Center. The Science Center was fun, but would have been better for little kids. Good thing it was free! After the Science Center, we gave the hunt for the ice cream another try. We ended up at a little shop called Serendipity Ice Cream which made everything homemade and was so good. After a quick break from the busy city, we decided to go to the Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. The wait was 45 minutes, so we gave the old Hard Rock another try and found it for dinner. We both got pulled pork sandwiches which were AMAZING!

Day 3: Today we got back home around 2. It was a great weekend away. Now it's back to grading papers, laundry, and being a grown up. Thanks for the perfect Christmas present, Denton! :)
